Lemmyversary Vol. 4 – 2019

Motörizer – Lemmyversary Vol. 4 – Markthalle Hamburg (2019)

Lemmyversary 4 (2019)

Live report MOTÖRIZER & PURE TONIC – LEMMYVERSARY Vol.4, Markthalle, Hamburg – 28.12.2019

December 28th is actually a quite sad day for fans of Heavy Metal.
The news of Lemmy Kilimster’s death spread like wildfire in 2015.
The iconic Motörhead frontman is a true pioneers in Heavy Metal and due to the authenticity a legend. That legends never die becomes obvious each year on December 28th.

There are a numerous Motörhead tribute shows and even more Motörhead cover bands of which Motörizer, hailing from Kiel (Germany), is one of.

Motörizer belong to the group of real good cover bands. The trio started the engine of their van end of December and it is ‘Markthalle Hamburg’ being the destination in the navigation system. The cult-venue hosts since a few years the ‘Lemmyversary’-evening and it’s already the 4th edition that takes place at the end of this year with the trio from Kiel being the main act tonight.

Motörizer, that’s Martin Simon, Peter Blackhead and Plug Larsson. First of all, and most important, the guys play great cover versions of Motörhead classics. It’s a real tribute to Lemmy Kilmister and all his band mates that honours the iconic frontman with excellent versions of classics like ‘No Class’, ‘Stay Clean’ and ‘Dr. Rock’. The temperature at Markthalle rises with every song played and a first crowd-surfer appears during ‘Road Crew’. The grande finale are the pure classics. ‘Motörhead’, ‘Ace of Spades’, ‘Bomber’ and ‘Overkill’ turned the venue into a madhouse and end a great show.

What makes Motörizer to a real good cover band is, besides the music, the sweet spot they found of being authentic and no copy cat. Motörizer loves Motörhead but doesn’t imitate Motörhead and they draw this line in a very sensitive way.
An example is the fact of frontman Martin Simon doing announcements in English, with a Lemmy-tibre, which adds to the show but never becomes a role play. Well done.

‘Lemmyversary Vol. 4’, that’s a great way to honour Lemmy Kilmister and as Pure Tonic bassist Dennis mentions earlier, it’s actually a sad moment and it’s so cool that so many Motörhead fans came out to the venue.

Lemmy would have liked a party like ‘Lemmyversary’. Nothing to add.
